Liminal If you're looking for a urban fantasy game that's still heavy in horror but still allows for a little power fantasy, Liminal is your game. It's setting and world are great and it's mechanics are easy to understand and get playing with.

The Great Book of Random Tables
by Hh W.

The Great Book of Random Tables After owning the composite books in pdf, I'm glad I picked this up in print! I went with standard colour because I didn't think the art would be the focus of a book of tables, but I have to say what art there is here is really well done, and definitely punches above its weight for a utility book. I'm a little sorry I didn't go for the premium option, but at nearly 40% increase in (sale) price, it's probably for the best. The border art, as thematic as it is, I'm pretty sure is there to make people think twice about printing their own copies, and comes a little close to some of the text than I'd like in places. I've been scouring my copy for defects as the POD service in the UK has been lacking in QA, but apart from the glue binding, this is as good as it gets to a perfect hardback copy. Apart from some odd editing issues with almost every option 100 at the bottom of each page (seems to be a rogue tab character between 100 and the text), and in p...

Easier Solo Play

Date Added: 08/03/2021 06:30:26
Easier Solo Play Easily digestable advice broken down into small discrete sections that can be read in 2-3 minute sittings. Having gamed solo for 18 months, tried out several of the popular and obscure solo systems and guides, there was still a wealth of advice I was able to take from this PDF then immediately apply to my game. Thanks for sharing

Delta Green: ARCHINT

Delta Green: ARCHINT Fantastic collection of artifacts to throw into a Delta Green game. Two from prior scenarios but the ones that aren't are lavishly detailed and deconstructed. There's some clever design in here like the Brixton Shard having very few SAN checks require for its use since... well... using it is going to require SAN checks from Violence anyway. The Gowdie Shape is probably my favorite with The Kurville Executable and blood of the feeder coming in second and third. ALL Of these artifacts practically scream to make ops around them or to be found wrapped in plastic in a green box. At least two have potential links to groups from other supplements, and one from a forthcoming supplement. There's also some clever visual design like each artifact having slightly different colored pages, only really noticable if you flip through the PDF. It's excellent across the board and varies from "That would be a clever way to involve this entity/group" to "Oh my god that...

The Pool

The Pool A simple yet usable system reminiscent of Hero Wars/Quest but using a dice pool. Characters are described by writing a short 50 word story about them. You can assign traits at a desired bonus level (as long as it's paid for). Very flexible and usable for one-shots or short compaigns. The five star rating feels a touch generous as there's not a lot here, but as I believe that was the design goal, it definitely succeeded.

Quarantine Battlemap Bundle - 520+ Fantasy D&D Battlemaps for $39 [BUNDLE]

Quarantine Battlemap Bundle - 520+ Fantasy D&D Battlemaps for $39 [BUNDLE] This bundle is a great bargin. I appreaciate and respect Seafoot Games for discounting this bundle so much. I have not used very many of the maps. There are some maps that are recolors of other maps to fit different themes, but there is still substantial variety in the bundle. My players are not ready to play in-person again yet, but the printability of these maps makes them perfect for in person sessions. The .pdf files have the pages labeled and numbered so that they can be printed on standard printer paper and taped, glued, or can otherwise be attached to each other perfectly. I haven't yet used a virtual tabletop, but the maps are also beautiful on screen and come with or without a grid for your needs. ...

Trinity Continuum: Aberrant

Trinity Continuum: Aberrant I've spent the last decade trying to find a Superhero RPG to run. This quest didn't lead me to the first edition of Aberrant; however, it gave me hands on experience with my fair share of superhero RPGs. If you're looking for a superhero game to run, you don't need to read the rest of this review. Buy this. This is an insanely good superhero game. Let me explain why. 1) Differentiated options in smooth narrative play. Fire attacks do persistent damage. Arrows can be swapped out on the fly to whatever payload you need. Speedsters might go splat if you hit them but good luck getting that hit off. The characters you make feel different; however, the underlying system also allows improvization on the fly. You spend your bonus successes on stunts. These stunts give you options. These options can be predefined and have mechanical goodness. Alternatively, these stunts can be poured into narrative bonuses or narrative complications for the enemy. This allows the joy of bui...

Alien Lifeform Generator A great way to generate all sorts of strange beasties. Could easily be used to create strange entities in genres outside scifi. The locomotion table is especially helpful for getting a good idea of what each alien might look like without being too vague or overly specific. I especially liked the example post it sketch of the headless knuckledragger.

Lucita's Six Fun heist chronicle for V20. Lots of Lasombra and Obtenebration. Some scenes really do stand out. It is heavy on the lore of the later editions though and the storyteller needs to take care of giving the players the right understanding to get into the mood. If you and your troupe are okay with that, I would give "Lucita's Six" a 4+.

Kyuuketsuki: The Fading Sun

Kyuuketsuki: The Fading Sun White Wolf touched upon the eastern vampires in earlier supplements. They were retconned into the Hungry ghosts, the Kuei-jin of Kindred of the East. But there always some opportunities left unexplored by this measure. "Kyuuketsuki: The Fading Sun" takes a look on these opportunities given by having Cainities entering the East. Given an interesting Japanese take, the book gives a new spin to the concept, while not retconning the Kuei-jin on its part. It is a fan supplement, written by an author that does not have English as first language, but it does not diminish the reading experience. All in all what I expect from a good supplement....

M20 Technocracy Reloaded
by Alexandre S.
Publisher: Onyx Path Publishing
Date Added: 08/02/2021 11:11:21
M20 Technocracy Reloaded M20 Technocracy Reloaded have a big identity problem. I understand that this book wants to please the most gameplay style and the most varied interpretations of the Technocracy possible, but this have the side-effet to dilude the focus to a point that this book feels empty. For exemple, the Q division chapter is mostly focused on the a spy/investigation style, and that create some sort of dissonance, because the rest of the book is about various other play style. Also, for a book about the various options, this book missed a lot of options on previous editions factions and groups. For exemple, the Syndicate's SDP is not developped as an option for those who want to keep or adapt this metaplot option. These omissions, on a product line as M20, open to the various "future fates", is a baffling. On the bright side, there is various interesting lore options, but the lack of focus on these options made the Technocracy less interesting....

Tales of Blades and Heroes Fantasy RPG rules
by William B.

Tales of Blades and Heroes Fantasy RPG rules Tales of Blades and Heroes is an RPG based on Andrea Sfiligoi's excellent Song of Blades and Heroes fantasy wargame. This book adds a full suite of RPG flavored special rules to Song of Blades and Heroes. The result is what I will call an RPG wargame. The RPG elements are well-thought-out, and I think they would play well. Will I use it? If I were going to play an RPG with other people, this would be at the top of my list. It has integrated combat balance, which makes it far superior to most other RPG's I've tried. I mostly play solo RPG's, and I think it'll work just fine in that context using the Mythic GM Emulator to automate the RPG elements of the game, and Lone Blade to handle combat AI. I think I'll try it. ...
